LOS ANGELES – A large whiteboard sits aside USC baseball coach Dan Hubbs’ desk in his office at Dedeaux Field. The team’s annual mission statement is scrawled on the board, broken up into three categories.

The first is goals, which include winning the Pac-12 championship, advancing to Super Regionals and winning the College World Series. The second is purpose words, which include “resilient” and “relentless.
