It has been reported that the team has filed for arbitration with a walk away option. The question everyone is asking is “What will the terms of Jonathan Bernier’s new contract be?”
Bernier is looking for a long-term deal but in reality has he earned it? The Leafs had one of their worst collapses in history last season and Bernier posted some of the lowest numbers of his NHL career.
With the Leafs just beginning to start their rebuild they need to figure out if Bernier is “Their Guy” moving forward. Realistically the Leafs aren’t expected to be contenders for at least the next 3-5 years.
