‘Younger Assistant Coaches’: Insiders Offer Profile Of Mike Tomlin’s Successor

Just over 24 hours after the Pittsburgh Steelers were informed by longtime head coach Mike Tomlin that he was stepping down, the organization was already pivoting quickly, trying to get up to speed in the coaching search.

After owner Art Rooney II spoke to the media Wednesday, detailing the steps ahead in the head coaching search and sharing what the organization will look for in replacing Tomlin, the team was busy working the phones, putting in five requests Wednesday to interview candidates.

Those five names? Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula and passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, and Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
