Colby Covington wants to start his middleweight journey against elite opposition.
Covington recently teased a move up to middleweight. The former interim welterweight champion called out Israel Adesanya for his middleweight debut. Covington likes Adesanya’s starpower and ability to promote a fight. “Chaos” also likes the matchup as they have traded barbs in the past.
An Opponent with a Brand
“Israel Adesanya, that’s someone that intrigues me,” Covington told Submission Radio. “A former champion like myself, someone that generates hype, has a following, has a platform and a brand. I think the Izzy fight makes a lot more sense than anything, and it's someone I don't like.
