There was once a time when the basketball community thought the world of Patrick Williams' upside as an NBA pro. Those days have rapidly disappeared. The former fourth overall pick never became Kawhi Leonard. The Chicago Bulls forward never even truly filled out as a capable 3-and-D wing.
Would the Bulls love to wipe their hands clean of the Williams experiment? Probably. However, the $90 million elephant in the room may be too heavy for them to offload the 24-year-old to another franchise in the immediate future.
Williams is in the second year of that brutal contract.
