MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan goalkeeper Kristen Knutson was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week after posting two shutouts over the weekend.
Knutson anchored a Chippewa defense that held Miami (Ohio) and Ball State scoreless over a combined 215 minutes as CMU improved to 10-1-1 overall, 2-1-1 in the MAC, with a 1-0 double-overtime victory over the RedHawks and a 0-0 tie with the Cardinals.
Knutson, a senior from Eagan, Minn., made a combined six saves on the weekend, including a sprawling stop of a sure goal in the first half against Ball State.
