Red Sox legend revealed on ‘Masked Singer’ premiere

Big Papi might be known for his connection to a Green Monster, but he was revealed to be the celeb behind a red monster costume on Wednesday night’s Season 14 premiere of “The Masked Singer” on Fox.

The reality TV singing competition features celebrities performing popular songs while disguised in elaborate full body costumes. Contestants compete for votes from panelists and audience members. Eliminated and unmasked in the season’s first episode, the former slugger apparently just couldn’t hit the notes.

David Ortiz appeared on the show as “Googly Eyes,” performing DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” while donning what host Nick Cannon said was the “biggest costume we’ve had on the Masked Singer” for “one of the biggest stars, of course.
