Anyone who watched Arkansas football this past season could tell an overhaul was needed in the secondary.
Sure, the struggles on that side of the ball extended far beyond just the defensive backs, but the Razorbacks ranked 104th nationally in pass defense and only three Power Four teams allowed more than the 8.5 yards per attempt they gave up in 2025.
No matter who Ryan Silverfield hired as his first defensive coordinator, this was going to be a major point of emphasis for Arkansas. It’s even more important under Ron Roberts, whose 4-2-5 scheme places heavy demands on the back end, requiring constant communication, versatility and trust across all five defensive back spots.
